Venetian blinds are a very classical type blind which are now made in various blade sizes and materials.

Venetians come in a variety of blade widths, and some are quite versatile in wet areas – bathroom laundry’s etc. Venations can usually be a face-fit or reveal fit and they have a “tile control” which allows you to vary the openness of the gap between the blades.

This allows you the flexibility to allow more light (or sun) etc into the room.

It is to be remembered that the larger and heavier the blind size, the heavier it is to pull up and the larger blinds of 3sqm approx or more, can be a “bit of an effort” to lift.

When venetians are fitted over doorways, you need to remember that when it is in the up position, there will still be a drop of the blind of approx 100mm to 200mm which can sometimes mean that a tall person may have to stoop to go in and out of the doorway.

Venetians can be damaged if they are treated roughly and the cords do become frayed after a few years, especially if it is a heavy blind.

I hear often that the biggest negative with Venetians is the dusting required to keep them clean. Control of the blind can be either LEFT or RIGHT side for both the tilt plus the lift or you can also have the lift on one side and the tilt on the other.

Aluminium venetians are very popular and are available in a vast array of colours and including a MATT finish or SATIN finish or GLOSS finish.

Aluminium venetians are great for wet areas and the slats themselves are easily cleaned.
