How To Install Curtains Rods: A DIY Guide

How To Install Curtains Rods: A DIY Guide

You’ve purchased new curtains and you are ready to see them transform your living
space, but… we all know that choosing is the easy part!

Now, it’s time to see your newly purchased curtains bring your home to life. There’s
no denying the incredible difference high-quality curtains can make to a room.

Not only can curtains transform a room, but curtain rods also add that extra little bit
of detail and refinement. Curtains can be the accent feature of any room when carefully chosen and installed correctly. They can accentuate the colour palette or enhance a rooms’ themed interior.

So… you’ve covered the fundamentals; your curtains and accompanying curtain rods are
ready and waiting. Now it’s time to hang them up. There are many ways you can go about installing curtain rods. Following the steps below will save you great time and effort, ensuring the installation is done properly, while making sure your beautiful new curtains are safe and secure.
What you’ll need:
– Curtain rod holder.
– Drill
– Pencil
– Measuring tape
– Brackets

Install curtain rods in three easy steps

Before you begin the installation process the first thing you must do is identify the type of wall you have, this will determine the type of fixings and screws that you will need.
If you are installing your curtain rod onto a brick, or timber wall you will need specific plugs
and screws for the different type of wall you are working with.

1.Measuring the window and the curtain rod
Measure the space between the two architraves, then measure the rod to ensure that the
rod is the correct length size. You need to make sure your rod has a minimum of 30mm
overhang. Accommodating for overhang ensures that your curtains provide full coverage,
making sure no light enters in on the early mornings that you want to catch some extra Z’s.

2. Install the curtain rod holders
Place curtain rod holder (bracket) on the outside of the left-hand architrave fixing the
bracket to the top of the architrave. (the architrave is the border frame that outlines the window). Clearly mark out the place where you will drill in the bracket with a pen or pencil, then proceed with pre-drilling the screw holes. Screw the brackets in place making sure they are aligned at both ends.

3. Place the curtain rod into the curtain rod holders
Align and slip curtain rings onto the rod and position the rod carefully onto the brackets. Lastly, join the rod and the holders together with small screws to stop the rod from slipping
sideways.

Carpet Installation Costs: What You Need To Know

Carpet Installation Costs: What You Need To Know

You’ve purchased your new carpet and you’re ready to see it bring new life to your home.
According to Service Seeking Australia, carpet installation can range from approximately $25/m2 to $45/m2. The price range varies in accordance to the type of carpet you have purchased, the size of the space, and the level of preparation required to install the carpet
properly.

The carpet installation process can be lengthy and expensive if it is done without expert
guidance. In between purchasing your new carpet and seeing it enhance your home; correct carpet installation must be implemented.

At Carpets Curtains Blinds we take the stress and difficulty out of the carpet installation
process helping you avoid the high additional costs that would come if the various carpet
installation stages were done individually.

VARIABLES THAT IMPACT THE OVERALL COST OF CARPET INSTALLATION

Number of rooms: the number of rooms that are being carpeted will affect the overall cost.
One big room won’t require the same amount of measuring, planning and cutting that is
required if you are installing carpets into smaller rooms throughout your house.

Room shape and features: room shape and room features can make the carpet installation
process increasingly difficult, resulting in different cutting and measuring requirements and
thus additional costs.

Removing furniture: removing furniture can add a great cost to the carpet installation process. At Carpet, Curtains and Blinds we take this cost on and include furniture removal in our service.

Carpet removal and subfloor preparation: the floor must be prepared before your new
carpet is installed. This requires the removal of pre-existing carpet, cleaning the floor and ensuring there isn’t any floor damage that could affect the installation of the new carpet.

Carpet underlay: the correct installation of carpet underlay is crucial to the lifetime of your carpet. Carpet underlay is made from either foam or rubber and is positioned underneath your carpet. Carpet underlay not only protects your new carpet, but it also provides you with the comfort and cushiony feel you’re looking for.
